Have you ever heard something annoying so much that you can’t take it anymore and just burst out tell everyone who brings up the subject to shut up? We’ve all been there and Jon Harris shows how much he relates with his listeners. In his single “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” which was released March 2020 he explains how repetitive conversation topics amongst young people can be. He speaks to his frustration about the lack of impact these conversations have on anything; you finish a conversation with so many people these days and you aren’t better in anyway from it.
Following “Big”, his first song released to music stores globally, which primarily utilizes traditional instruments and speaks to the idea of how Jon Harris tends to think bigger; I Don’t Wanna Hear It uses more synthetic sounds. Harris was the producer for both songs and yet they have 2 completely different
sounds which showcases his versatility. Hearing the initial synth with its atmospheric edit sets the tone and immediately grabs the listener. Hearing it for the first time the listen wouldn’t guess how the song would play out based on the first ten seconds.
Jon has always said how he tries to be relatable. He has a catalog of songs starting with his first mixtape “Destiny’s Calling” through “Destiny’s Calling 2” and show he hasn’t forgotten how important relatability is to him. He gets straight to the point starting the first verse referencing all the typical conversations being about bragging about money, women, possessions then quickly add how he doesn’t want to hear any of it. He also makes a point to end both verses the same which emphasizes how no matter where he goes or who he speaks to everyone talks about the same pointless topics.
