Jon Harris is a hip hop recording artist and song writer from the United States. The rapper from New York has been releasing music commercially since 2018 with his first sing titled "BIG". After taking a small break from releasing new music, Jon has returned with his song "Where I Been" that released on July 31, 2026.
"Where I Been", produced by Harris, is his first new song since his 2023 song "More". "Where I Been" is a song Jon used to explain his absence from the music and what he's been up to. He released 2 versions of the song; an orginal version where after the lyrics end he takes the time to explain by speaking to the audience, and a shortened version where its just the music. As he explained, there were a few factors that cause the hiatus but did mention that although he was not releasing music, he was still writing and recording and that he has a few songs that are "ready to go" that he's made since 2023. He speaks, in the song, about his health scare in 2024 where he was hospitalized but needed to rest even after being discharge. Aside from the health complication, he notes how he had to sacrifice some of the time he spends working on music to focus on his company as they transitioned from a music company to a multi-entertainment company that specializes in more areas of entertainment than just music. Idolizing the late Steve Jobs Jon sets himself at the forefront of everything his company does and is one of the lead creators in all aspects of his companies operations which, understandably, can be very time consuming. Lastly he opens up about his love life and how he has a romantic partner he in his own words says is not fair to neglect. With all of that going on Harris did assure us he was working on time management to figure out the best way to get everything done and will be releasing music once more.
Outside of the song we were able to have Jon answer a few more questions about the song and he did also mention how along with the songs that he recorded during his absence he was continuously writing and producing but he can be a perfectionist when it comes to his writing. He says that he's probably had multiple-dozens of song concepts that he just couldn't make work and still may release in a future date if he's able to write something he believes is up to the standards he sets for himself. And with everything he's recorded and shelved there were probable more songs he's started that he scrapped than both of those categories combined. He expressed how when we puts out a song regardless of the quality he wants it to be that if you listen to what he's saying and the message he's conveying you can feel it, that it speaks to everyone even if it's not directly meant for them, we all know someone that his song can speak to.
